Work Package I Project coordination and management

Objective
  • Ensure effective project management and coordination, including legal issues, internal and external reporting, day-today management and sound financial management;
  • Set-up and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework for project activities and outputs;
  • Arrangement and streamline of consortium meetings, general assemblies and final conference and ensure the implementation of the proposed organizational structure and decision-making processes;
  • Handle risk management;
  • Handle data management, open science and protection of internal property rights (IPR);
  • Ensure ethical compliance (social, environmental);
  • Maintain communication and interaction with the complementing projects and the External Advisory Board (EAB)

Work Package II Development of sustainable food trade systems by facilitation and scaling of innovation transfer

Objective
  • To scout innovations from the network of WU, HSWT and the African partners, which have solutions for the most urgent challenges in the food value chain;
  • Fostering the innovation transfer into practice with an AI based networking platform, joint innovation hubs in Africa and sensitization for an entrepreneurial mindset among researchers (e.g. PhD students);
  • Developing training and educational material for empowering and supporting women in entrepreneurship;
  •  To implement hybrid training for farmers to improve farming methods towards higher climate resilience, reduction of post-harvest losses and economic growth;
  • Raising awareness among the general population on a plant based diet and supporting startups and business ideas with focusing on alternative proteins;

Work Package III Digitalization for efficient trade relations

Objective
  • Provide a survey of the current state of digital solutions to scale up and enhance existing good practices and digital solutions from participating countries as well as to share their experiences and solutions;
  • Provide recommendations to ministries on seamless exchange of trade-data by providing a proof of concept digital solutions and demonstration at stakeholders (living labs) in support of rules of origin, traceability and certification based on globally established standards;
  • Support the both the formal and the informal sector, identify the stakeholders, their needs and offer suitable best practices that lead to the acceptance of digital solutions;
  • Provide a digital innovation platform based on existing solutions used in beneficiary countries and train members of trade organisations and trade communities on the benefits, implementation and use of traceability standards.

Work Package IV Analysis, Modelling, and Policy Recommendations on Non-Tariff Measures in Intra-African and EU-AU Trade

Objective
  • To conduct comprehensive mapping of NTMs: Systematically identify, categorize, and map non-tariff measures affecting intra-African and EU-African Union trade, leveraging existing databases, literature reviews, and stakeholder consultations to create a detailed landscape of NTMs; 
  • To develop and refine modelling frameworks: Build and enhance econometric and simulation models to analyze the consequences of NTMs on trade dynamics, considering different scenarios such as policy amendments, market trends, and external economic shifts; 
  • To engage stakeholders in the mapping process: Facilitate consultations and workshops with key stakeholders, including trade officials, industry representatives, and academic experts, to validate the mapping findings and align the analysis with policy and business needs; 
  • To formulate policy recommendations based on mapping and analysis: Develop targeted policy recommendations aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of NTMs identified through mapping, enhancing trade facilitation, and promoting the harmonization of standards and regulations between the EU and African Union, as well as within Africa.

Work Package V Leveraging Innovation and Knowledge Transfer

Objective
  • Development of thematic calls for online courses for innovation & nutrition;

Work Package VI Comprehensive Dissemination and Exploitation Framework

Objective
  • Implement a comprehensive and effective set of dissemination and communication activities;
  • Create awareness about project results and stimulate stakeholders’ (innovators, producers, policymakers) engagement through its rich content in social media and presentation of the STREAMING
    results in conferences/expos;
  • Provide relevant policy recommendations co-developed through dialogue with and engagement of stakeholders;
  • Educate researchers and practitioners on topics like climate change, sustainability, novel food technologies, waste utilization etc. and create instruction/teaching materials to be used by academia/industry;
  • Stimulate discussion, best solutions exchange and experience sharing including through fostering interaction with other ongoing initiatives/projects and creation of STREAMING community outside the consortium who will further spread the outputs of the action;
  • Ensure exploitation & sustainability by the carrying out of general public awareness initiatives about sustainability and health within the food value chain.
